STAY WITH US
Barton Court forms the heart of a country estate that goes back hundreds of years. It sits on the edge of the village of Colwall between Ledbury in Herefordshire and Malvern in Worcestershire with spectacular views of both counties. Surrounded by history and beauty, with the Malvern Hills as its backdrop, this lovely country house rental is private but not isolated.
Said by some to be ‘Herefordshire’s hidden gem’, Barton Court is just up the road from the [much younger] well-known Eastnor Castle and within easy striking distance of all the attractions of the Three Counties.
The property is made up of the principal dwelling (the main house), The Clock Tower and a cluster of ancillary buildings can be rented for short breaks, weddings and events, altogether, in various combinations or separately. We specialise in weekend rentals so rest assured your every need will be catered for. Please do read about our fabulous accommodation below and take a look at our gallery for some more images of Barton Court and its grounds. We are also making way for more fabulous accommodation here at Barton Court including a funky pad in our amazing original toolshed….watch this space and sign up to our newsletter for all the latest developments.
Reception Rooms
The drawing room is magnificent, dominated by an exquisite 18th century plasterwork ceiling and with three floor to ceiling windows looking south over the fields. On the other side of the spacious entrance hall, the dining room seats up to 40.
Kitchen
Brought up from the basement after the Second World War, the kitchen, with its adjoining scullery, pantry and stillroom, is vintage 1950s but with modern appliances and plenty of kit and caboodle for large group cooking.
Bedrooms
There are 11 bedrooms, 8 on the first floor and 3 on the ground floor, all individually decorated. The latest bedroom is wheel chair friendly and has an ensuite shower room with disabled facilities. Our beds are mostly zip and link to allow maximum flexibility and some rooms have daybeds as well. When you arrive, the beds are made up with hypoallergenic bedding and pristine linen. We provide a bath sheet and a hand towel for each guest.
Bathrooms
Our bathroom fittings are hotel quality. Most are made by Grohe but the Master Bathroom boasts a Perrin and Rowe double rainfall shower and a Cast Iron Bath Company lit bateau. We have 8 ensuite bathrooms and one family shower room. Three separate cloakrooms - two on the ground floor ensure that there are no queues for the loos.
NEWSFLASH
Barton Court is normally rented on a self catering basis but Covid is making this very problematic. Until further notice, we will not be taking any bookings for self catering accommodation in the main house but watch this space as more of our smaller units come onstream.
The good news is that you can still come and enjoy the wonders of Barton Court on a Bed and Breakfast basis. We are reinventing ourselves and will be offering high quality beds and breakfasts from the middle of September.
THE CLOCK TOWER
NOW WITH ITS VERY OWN HOT TUB!
Once the head gardener's cottage, this bijou little house has been carefully restored to make it as comfortable as it is charming.
It has everything that a couple [with their dog] could need: a cosy sitting room with a log burner; a comfortable bedroom with lovely views; a well equipped kitchen and a good shower room. There is even a second loo, an enclosed dog run and a little patio area.
We have created a pretty little enclosed garden in two sections: one with a patio area you can sit and have a coffee and another with its own hot tub where you can relax and gaze at the Malvern Hills and the stars.
THE LOOSE BOX
What used to be the home of Tarquin and Rocket, beloved horses belonging to the estate, is now a funky 2 bedroomed unit suitable for up to 6 people.
We have left all the original features intact - including the stables, bridal hooks and name plates - and just gently tidied it up. It is full of character and very comfortable, great for a family or a small group of singletons.
There are two bedrooms [one very tiny], each with zip and link beds and an ensuite shower room. There are two comfortable sofabeds in the sitting room, along with plenty of ancillary seating and a dining table and chairs for 6.
The kitchen has all the toys, including a double oven, dishwasher and wine fridge and you can park outside.
